October 2024
Dear Teddy Bear Parents,
Welcome to October! The Teddy Bears have been quickly adjusting to their new environment this September! They have forged new friendships, tried their best to follow the classroom rules, and learned new things every day. Our five senses unit has laid the foundation for learning the letters of the alphabet – they will use touch, taste, hear, smell, and sight to learn and recognize the letters and their sounds.
We took beautiful pictures on picture day. The children have been practicing recognizing the letters in their name. They now have all mastered this skill.
We have spent this last week learning about safety at school, at home, and preparing for potential fires and earthquakes. We did a great job with our disaster drill! The staff here works hard to make sure everything is clean and safe for the children. We are lucky to have such wonderful teachers!
Fall is here and the class will be exploring the season with many activities! Colorful leaves and pumpkins will be in abundance. We will learn about taking care of our teeth and eating healthful foods.
Saturday, October 5th is our Parent Workday. Many of you have signed up to help and we really appreciate that! The sign-up sheet will be posted to add your name if you haven’t had a chance. We will be cleaning up the yard, doing gardening work, replacing, and repairing items, and cleaning chairs and windows. It can be lots of fun with many hands! The children are always amazed at the changes when they return to school. Remember to bring your gloves, cleaning, and gardening supplies. We do ask that children do not come on the parent workday due to health and safety concerns.
There will be no school on Monday, October 7th.
The parent appeal payment of $150 per student is due on Wednesday, October 16th. The parent appeal is one of the fundraisers in your tuition contract. The total amount is $300 with a payment in October and November.
Dr. Thai’s dental office will visit us on Tuesday, October 8th. Dr. Thai has a pediatric dentist office on Calaroga Ave. She has offered to do a dental health presentation for the children. She is amazing with children, and they always enjoy her visit.
On Friday, October 18th we will have our annual Fall Festival. The teachers will run this event with help from parents. We will have pumpkins delivered for a pumpkin patch and set up numerous games for the children to play. Each class will take part in the festival as a single group. We will need a few parents to provide treats and cookies for the event.
The week of October 21st is Red Ribbon week. This is a week where schools teach children about drug awareness. Here in the preschool, we will be talking about living a healthy lifestyle – making good choices and eating healthy foods. On Wednesday, October 23rd we will have an all-school Healthy Lunch. All the students can bring a healthy lunch on this day, and we will eat early to accommodate the part-time students.
Thursday, October 31st will be our Halloween Party. The children will wear their costumes to school, and we will have special snacks and activities. A sign up for party goodies will be posted. Children on the 9-3 schedule will be dismissed at noon and daycare will close at 3 pm.
As you can see, we have many special activities this month. Be an involved parent! Talk to your child about all the activities of the class. If you read the newsletters and keep track of all that is going on your child feels a part of each activity.
We have been enjoying your children. They are enthusiastic learners. We look forward to each new experience with them!
